ABOUT US
OVER 60 YEARS OF HISTORY
Bobby’s Dancewear has proudly served Omaha and the surrounding communities since 1962. Founded by Robert L. “Bob” Carlson and his wife, dance instructor and studio owner Patricia Carlson, Bobby’s mission was to provide high-quality products for dancers throughout the community. Store ownership transferred in 2006 to life-long dancer and 10-year store employee, Melissa Jewell. In January 2017, Bobby’s Dancewear opened a second location in Lincoln, NE.

Owner: Melissa Jewell
Melissa Jewell was born and raised in Omaha, NE. She began dancing at the age of 4 and has always had a great appreciation for the world of dance and the arts. She taught dance and gymnastics classes for a number of years at her childhood studio, and facilitated a community dance program at an Omaha-area YMCA.
Melissa began working at Bobby’s Dancewear after high school, and was promoted to Full-Time Manager of the store after graduating from college with a degree in Elementary Education. In October 2006, she purchased Bobby’s Dancewear, and has enjoyed the great task of making the store her very own!
Melissa believes in the power of building personal relationships. This is especially true in her business life, and is evidenced by her willingness to go the extra mile to meet each customer’s needs. She also recognizes the value of working closely with area dance teachers, and does her best to keep each studio’s individual requirements on file at Bobby’s to ensure that every student is prepared for class. Nothing is more important to Melissa, however, than exceptional customer service. Our business is built on the loyalty and generosity of our customers and we do not take that for granted.

When you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance.
Your support allows us to return that love back into the community through things like high school sponsorships and fundraisers for local charities and organizations.
